DOYLESTOWN, Pa. Buoyed by success in creating partnerships and affiliations with several major market radio stations, sports bars and other interests, MyPointPool, Inc. is proceeding on schedule with the planned conversion of its provisional patent application to one for a regular patent that includes foreign rights. The patent application, filed through Manhattan-based law firm Fulbright & Jaworski, covers the proprietary processes and algorithms created by developers to make the production and operation of the unique online Point Pool possible.
Based on actual NFL game winners and losers, Point Pool is radically different from other pools in several respects. First, it is a season-long game of strategy, knowledge and luck. It differs from fantasy leagues by placing the focus on game results instead of on individual player statistics. Unlike other common pools such as suicide, pick ’em and confidence pools, MyPointPool.com provides participants with true challenges by requiring thoughtful strategy and long-term planning, though actual play requires only a few minutes each week. Finally, Point Pool differs from all other pools in that it runs through the entirety of the regular season as well as the playoffs.
According to creator and company president, Scott Dow, Point Pool is an extremely volatile game, providing participants with real excitement. "Dramatic falls from first to last place are always possible, as are equally dramatic comebacks even into the playoffs," he says. The concept for this particular pool structure was tested over more than two decades in a traditional offline format before being ported to the Web. "We had such great fun with it that I could see the potential for a fast, fun online game offering far more excitement than what’s currently out there."
One of those potentials is for Point Pool to function as a popular and effective fundraising tool. It offers numerous advantages over conventional fundraising events, including no upfront or ongoing costs beyond promotion, fully outsourced administration and management, a full 22 weeks of playing time for participants, and receipt of fees within a few weeks of game start date.
"The filing of the patent application allows us to confidently move forward with our plan to license our website and rights to operate the game, without fear of a competitor stealing the proprietary concepts that make the game possible," Dow explains. "We’re confident that once the general public understands how Point Pool works and gives it a try, they’ll be as hooked on it as the people who have played in my tiny private pool for 25 years.
"Though serious football fans love this pool, it has also proven to attract casual fans people who enjoy football games but are simply turned off by the amount of work and time required to participate in other types of pools."
Point Pool does not involve gambling, and MyPointPool.com is not a gambling website. Money is not won or lost based on the results of games; wagers are made solely with points.

Here's how it works! Click here to register. Once you register, you'll receive a confirmation email with a link to activate your account.
When you click on the link, you will be taken to your user home page where you can sign up for the pool.Simply select "Join A Pool" from the drop-down list, select "1010XL" and click "Join". It's that simple.
This pool is different from anything else out there so make sure you read the rules. It is great for ALL fans – hardcore and casual alike. It’s simple, taking only a couple of minutes a week, but requires strategy and is lots of fun.
The format is simple.
Each player starts with 50 points and a random schedule of 2 NFL games per week (there are 100 unique schedules). You will see everyone’s complete schedule right from the opening week.
Each week of the regular season, you need to do two things: 1) pick a team to WIN each of your games; and 2) decide how many points to wager on each pick. That’s it! The only wagering rules are that you must wager a minimum of 5% on each of your games and you can’t wager more points than you have in any given week. Apart from that, you decide how to manage your points.
Your object is to build up your point total by picking games correctly. Win and your wager is added to your total. Lose and it is subtracted. Lose all your points and you’re out. Normally the winning total is between 30,000 and 90,000 points but it has been as low as 2,200 and as high as 344,000 (yes, 344,000!).
If you take an underdog, you can get odds on your wager. A 5 point underdog, for instance, gets 3:1 odds. In last year’s Big Game, the Giants were 10:1 underdogs against the Patriots.
The pool runs all the way through the playoffs and Big Game, getting more and more exciting as the weeks pass by. During the playoffs, you'll be wagering head-to-head with all other players on every game. The Point Pool is incredibly volatile. One week can take a player from first to last and big comebacks are always possible - even in the playoffs (IF you can pick the right underdog).
So come join us in this great new football pool.
